Development kicked off with an official announcement in July 2024 by Ranveer Singh himself on social media. By December 2024, the title was officially revealed as Dhurandhar, reportedly drawing inspiration from real-life incidents, global conflicts, and the covert operations of RAW.
The casting journey began in July 2024 with Ranveer Singh leading the charge, alongside Sanjay Dutt and R. Madhavan. Later, Akshaye Khanna and Arjun Rampal joined in supporting roles. In October 2024, Sara Arjun was cast opposite Singh. Singh embodies a RAW agent, while Madhavan is rumored to portray National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
Filming commenced in July 2024 in Bangkok for the first schedule. The second schedule unfolded in November 2024 near Amritsar and the Golden Temple. February 2025 saw filming at Filmistan, Mumbai, followed by shoots across Madh Island, concluding by late April 2025. In May 2025, action sequences were captured at Mankoli bridge. A vibrant dance number was filmed in July 2025 at the Golden Tobacco Factory in Vile Parle. Scenes set in Pakistan were meticulously recreated in Thailand. Filming ventured to Ladakh in August 2025 but faced a halt due to several crew members being hospitalized for food poisoning. Ranveer Singh completed his portions by October 2025.
The film's music is masterfully composed by Shashwat Sachdev, with poignant lyrics by Irshad Kamil. The title track, released on October 15th, 2025, is a reimagining of the classic 1995 song "Na Dil De Pardesi Nu" by Muhammad Sadiq and Ranjit Kaur, originally composed by Charanjit Ahuja and written by Babu Singh Maan. This track was famously remixed by Panjabi MC as "Jogi" in 2003. The music rights are held by Saregama.
Marketing for Dhurandhar has been generating buzz. The first-look poster dropped on July 6th, 2025, coinciding with Ranveer Singh’s 40th birthday. A teaser was unveiled the same day, featuring the powerful vocals of Jasmine Sandlas. The soundtrack also includes an electrifying rap segment by Hanumankind.
