Crime 101 is a 2026 crime thriller film written and directed by Bart Layton, based on the 2020 novella of the same name by Don Winslow. It stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte, and Halle Berry. The film premiered in London on January 28, 2026, and was released in the United States by Amazon MGM Studios and internationally by Sony Pictures Releasing International on February 13, 2026. It received positive reviews from critics. == Premise == Jewel thief Mike Davis' heists along the 101 freeway have left police baffled. When he sets his sights on the ultimate score, his plans intersect with those of insurance broker Sharon Combs. Layton adapted the Don Winslow novella with contributions from Peter Straughan. Producers include Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan, Dimitri Doganis, Derrin Schlesinger, Shane Salerno and Layton. Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Barry Keoghan star, with Hemsworth also producing alongside Ben Grayson. Amazon won a bidding war for the rights to the novella in 2023, beating out Netflix with Pedro Pascal originally in talks to star alongside Hemsworth before dropping out due to scheduling conflicts with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. In May 2024, Mark Ruffalo joined the cast as Lou Lubesnick. In October, Halle Berry, Corey Hawkins and Monica Barbaro joined the cast in undisclosed roles.
